At the edge of the Withered Plains, the sparse beginnings of a dry deciduous forest pepper the landscape. This smattering of trees gives way to a dense and expansive forest bursting with wildlife. Rosehaven is the only official city within the woodlands, with the remainder of the Forestfolk living in small autonomous encampments. This primarily gnomish city is comprised of bridged treehouses to avoid large predators below. Rosehaven’s interconnected infrastructure lends itself to a fluid society. Instructing and raising children is considered the burden of the community.
Socially, the forest is divided into two classes, the arcane and the natural. Both classes are respected in their own right for their gifts, but each feel that their own craft is superior to the other. Arcane users wear robes with coloured hems to denote their status, while naturals dress practically for their trades.
Due to the forest’s location between the plains and the sea, there is a high population of half-elves found among the Forestfolk. No official travel or trade routes have been established through the woods. The safety of the journey is questionable, and rumors of predatory lycathropes discourage many from taking the 3 day trek.
